October 26th was a sunny fall day, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church was decorated for the season, and as you walked into Sifford Hall you could smell the aroma—chocolate.  People were having such a good time sampling all of the homemade goodies at the HSV Altrusa “Chocolate Fantasy” fundraiser, club president Anne Holt had to interrupt them to announce the door prize and raffle prize winners.

The Door Prize was a facial donated by Heidi Nikodem of The Kutting Korner Salon.  There were eight Raffle Prize winners of  “High Tea for Two”  contributed and to be presented by Altrusan Martha Smither in the spring of 2008.

The Grand Raffle Prize awarded was a half-day for two at the elegant Turtle Cove Spa, near Mt. Ida, Arkansas.

For anyone who still craves chocolate, our club is selling “Chocolate Fantasy” recipe mini-booklets for $1.00 each.  It contains all of the homemade chocolate delights featured at the event.  Please contact Linda at 501 915-8070 or any Altrusa member to buy one.  Proceeds from all Altrusa’s fund-raising activities directly support our service projects.

Thank you to Hot Springs Village and surrounding communities who supported the HSV Altrusa Club’s “Chocolate Fantasy” on October 26.  As our major fund-raiser, we are so grateful to everyone who attended the event and/or bought raffle tickets.

We also must acknowledge and thank those “friends” of Altrusa who made the event so successful:  the Joan McCormack Trust; Alma Peterson who spent many hours hand making the chocolate truffles; Sweet ‘N Low for contributing sampling spoons; Jill Blanchard of Haute Chocolatier (chocolate fountain manager); Heidi Nikodem of The Kutting Korner Salon who donated a facial as a door prize; Altrusa member Martha Smither for the High-Tea raffle prize; Turtle Cove Spa for donating a ˝ day spa treatment for the raffle drawing grand prize; Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for the use of their facilities, complete with Fall decorations; and The Hot Springs Village Voice for its coverage of the event, including expert editing advice.

As president, I am so proud of our members, almost all of whom participated in some way.  Special kudos to Chair Eyvonne Whipple and her Finances Committee for orchestrating the event.
