2008 4.0 Student Recognition Luncheon

Altrusa International, Inc. of Hot Springs Village held its annual luncheon for outstanding area high-school students at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock on April 2, 2008. Students from Fountain Lake, Jessieville and Mountain Pine High Schools who had earned a 4.0 grade point average for the 2007-2008 fall semester were invited to attend. Arkansas’ First Lady Ginger Beebe personally greeted each of the students on the front portico of the Governor’s Mansion. Altrusan Martha Smither provided piano music during the luncheon. The guest speaker this year was Craig O’Neill, sports director at KTHV Channel 11. Since he is very involved with student and athletic events at schools throughout the state and is a staunch supporter of young people, the students are very familiar with Mr. O’Neill and responded warmly to his humorous and motivational speech. He lingered after the luncheon to have his picture taken with all of the students.

Each student was introduced individually and presented with a Certificate of Recognition for outstanding scholastic achievement by Altrusa Club President, Anne Holt.
